Physical Education (PE) curriculum
The Physical Education curriculum aims to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in sport and other related activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. PE enables all pupils to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively in an active environment. The opportunities to compete in sport and similar activities build character and help to embed values such as equality and respect. PE has an important role in ensuring that pupils have a well-rounded and balanced education as well as leading healthy and active lives beyond school.
Debating and public speaking plays a prominent role in the life of St. Roselyn pupils. There are many opportunities for pupils to engage in debating and public speaking.
An immense value is placed on debating and public speaking because we believe that it provides pupils with intellectual stimulation outside of the classroom and facilitates the development of higher order thinking skills that is applicable to all areas of life.
More recently, it also forms part of a key aspect of our pupils learning of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance.
